Who hasn’t heard about Tom and Jerry? yet, have you thought about how your favorite cartoon characters came into existence? Here is a look at some of the best cartoon characters we know today and how they came into being.

1. Our lovable Bugs Bunny 4anime

It took times to develop Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny was first named as Happy Wabbit and the character was a lot less defined, perhaps because it was first developed by Cal Dalton, a newcomer then.Released first in April 30, 1938, it was only years down the line that Bugs Bunny became what he is today, that lovable grown-up rabbit. The personality of Bugs changed over the years too. While he was hyper manic at first, he slowly became the witty and thoughtful rabbit that we know of today.

2. The amazing duo of Tom and Jerry

Everyone loves the adventures of this cat and mouse. Developed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry came about only when the pair were made to work together by MGM to save costs. The theme for all Tom and Jerry cartoon remains the same till date, there are two characters, a conflict and chase and action. While back in the 1930’s, short animated films were much in demand, Tom and Jerry is loved by all, even today.

3. The historic Flintstones

Did you know that The Flintstones was developed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera as well? After leaving MGM Studios, they wanted to make their own mark in the cartoon world. The going wasn’t easy. They didn’t have MGM’s budget to support them. Of course, they did come out with good cartoon shows like The Huckleberry Hound Show, but it didn’t really make a dent. Then the duo came upon the concept of Flintstones. A bit similar to the 1950’s American sitcom, The Honeymooners, The Flintstones had two entangled lovers playing a prominent .
